Frozen Shoulder

Adhesive capsulitis, also known as frozen shoulder, refers to the inflammation and subsequent hardening of joint tissues at the shoulder. Its symptoms include pain around the shoulder, and stiffness at the shoulder, most commonly accompanied by decreased range of motion. It may also cause pain when sleeping on the affected side.

To manage adhesive capsulitis, it is crucial to avoid excessive loading placed on the shoulder. Our physiotherapists first assess the severity of frozen shoulder through movement analysis and functional testing. Manual therapy and acupuncture are used to decrease pain and improve range of motion. Stretching and rotator cuff strengthening exercises are also required for a full recovery.
