Herniated Disc

Prolapsed Intervertebral Disc (PID) is a common cause of back pain. PID refers to intervertebral disc displaced from intervertebral space in our spine. Patients may experience low back pain, burning or stinging sensation which radiates down to the leg. In more severe cases, they can be associated with sensation loss and muscle weakness. Generally, mild to moderate PID can be well treated by physiotherapy.

Our physiotherapists first assess through movement analysis and functional testing to confirm the affected spinal level and severity of PID. Manual therapy and acupuncture are used to relax tight back and thigh muscles and control the pain, along with back and lower limb strengthening exercise to solve the problem.
